Renewal/Addition

A person who currently holds an Indiana license whose objective(s) is to renew, make an addition, or convert to a professional level should complete the following steps that pertain to that area:

RENEWAL

  1. Complete six hours of academic credit at Purdue University in the teaching major, minor, or endorsement area(s) or in professional education within five years of the application date. A grade point average of 2.5/4.0 is required for renewal.

Certification Renewal Units (CRUs) offered by Purdue University may be used for renewal as long as the participant has completed a master’s degree or 36 semester hours of approved academic credit beyond the bachelor’s degree.

If you plan to renew with a combination of CRUs and in-state coursework, contact the Office of Professional Preparation and Licensure for additional information regarding application materials and CRU certificate verification.
  2. For Rules 2002 license renewal, the Professional Growth Plan (PGP) must be completed. Submit the appropriate documents no less than 120 days prior to the expiration of your current license to the Indiana Department of Education, Office of Educator Licensing and Development. Individuals with a Bulletin 400 or Rules 46-47 license may use the PGP to renew those licenses; however, all subsequent renewals must be under the PGP. For complete PGP details, visit Division of Professional Standards.
  3. If you are renewing a Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinician license, contact a licensing advisor for specific requirements.

ADDITION

  2. Complete the required course work at Purdue University , maintaining a 2.5/4.0 index.
  3. The application fee for an addition and renewal at the same time is $35.
